The best nonsense on the Web and various other gimcracks and gewgaws.

So much to share
Today turned out to be a good Web day. I came across more gimcrack in a few hours than I usually see in a week. And guess who benefits? You. That's right friends. You get to reap the benefits of my superbly Webby day. For example, did you know that
Squirrels can jam? Or that there really is
a town called Fucking? Or that you can build a video arcade out of nothing but
paper, sweat, and glue (although not necessarily in that order)? Well, now you know, and like
Sgt. Slaughter used to say, knowing is half the battle. Which brings us to a serious note in the post. See if you can pass the
U.S. Citizenship test. I scored 8 out of 10, which is good enough to vote, but still a little embarrassing. See how well you can do. Afterwards, take a look at
Bush's desktop (and make sure you click around. I highly recommend the speech fixer). Take some consolation in the fact that you're smarter than he is (and probably smarter than
these people). And if that gets you in the mood for some sacrilege, purchase some goods from
Cheesy Jesus (they have everything from Candy Rosaries to Jesus Bobbleheads). Then change gears and kick back and relax with
psycho pong (a bizarre twist on the original. I can't seem to beat the first level). See the creative and humorous movie, music, and culture blending "art" at
A Flock of Segers. That should make you laugh a little bit (
Boyz in the Hood: Men in Tights made me chuckle). If you want more, come back tomorrow, because I'm cutting loose: footloose.
If Only I Were Twelve
Sadly, I find myself saying those words often... Sure, I have the mentality of a twelve year old, but that doesn't help me get cheaper tickets at the movies, happy meals, or lolipops at the doctors. But the reason I really want to be twelve today is that apparently now they have
Video Game Camp! What the hell? They didn't have video game camp when I was growing up. I want to go to video game camp, but they won't let me, because apparently they only take kids in grades 5-12. Talk about your all time bummers. Sure, I went to computer camp. We'd spend 8 hours a day writing computer programs and 8 hours a day playing computer games and
making up bizarre stuff like this, but at least computer camp had the good sense to trick our parents into thinking that we'd do more than play video games. We'd computer, or something. This camp has no such shame. I can only imagine the sheer
video game lunacy of this camp. The website is pretty crappy. I couldn't find pricing or age restrictions on there. So I did some investigating and one of the sessions is at Hofstra, so I checked out
Hofstra's website and they had this information:
Grades 5 through 12
10 Saturdays: June 26 - September 11, 9am-1pm
$799 for 40 hours of instruction
Best $800 I will spend. I mean, I wish I could spend. Craziness I tell you. Absolute craziness. The next thing you know there will be video game college. If you're interested in learning more,
read about the camp at IGN.

Nintendo wants to hear from YOU!
So, what is the greatest thing I've heard about in the video game world? It's the new
retro GameBoy and the re-released
Classic NES games. I mentioned this in a
previous post. It was cool then and it's cool now. But, what makes it even cooler is that I stumbled upon Nintendo's
Classic NES Series Survey Where you get to pick your 15 favorite games from a list of almost 700 classic Nintendo games. From classics like
Bubble Bobble,
Punch Out!, and
Contra to cult favorites like
Yo! Noid,
Ultima: Exodus,
8 Eyes, and
the like. They are all there for your votes. And who knows, if enough people pick them, you may see them on a GameBoy near you very soon (namely, my GameBoy). I'd forgotten about so many of these, they were truly some of the greatest video games ever created. Take a walk down memory lane and give Nintendo your thoughts.
Take the survey.
A New Look
Hey everybody. I just wanted to make you all aware of the new look for Buffalo Bandit's Blogtastic Blog. I've added a sidebar. It has my most frequently visited sites up at the top under "Buffalo's Roundup" and then my most recent posts, and then my complete archives. I implore you to take the new design for a spin and let me know what you think. Comments are welcome.

Hardest Game EVAH....
This game ranks among one of the hardest out there... It's called
njam... but it should be called fjam because it's F-ing hard... I can't seem to get past level 6. My high score it 7740. See if you can beat it. If you get sick of getting your ass kicked though, you should try
Grow. It's bizarre, and if you can figure out how it works, then you'll definitely do better at it than me. But it's fun and addictive none-the-less. And if that messes with your mind too much, you can give
Vanilla a try. It's very straightforward and easy to understand. But it's also extremely addictive. My record is 31.2 feet. And believe me, it's the little mistakes that make the biggest difference. But the best time-waster of them all is
Tontie. It's so addictive I wouldn't be surprised if many a bored employee was fired for his/her dedication to the mighty hammer of Tontie. Anyway, enjoy. Don't blame me if your boss gets upset at you though.

Good Movies Coming Soon...
So, this weekend was pretty good (not being at work and all). I played some
miniature golf, went out for a nice dinner at
Olives, ate at
Cactus Cantina twice in a 18 hour period, and thought about going to the movies. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything I really wanted to see. So Meghan and I rented
The Last Samurai (Not a bad movie, except for having
Tom Cruise in it). But it got me thinking about what movies I was excited about. And then I remembered and some of them start this Friday:
- Napoleon DynamiteThis movie looks awesome! But Don't take my word for it, here's the synopsis from Hollywood.com:
From the rural town of Preston, Idaho, comes Napoleon Dynamite. With a red 'fro, his moon boots and illegal government ninja moves, he is a new kind of hero. His family consists of fragile brother Kip, who's seeking his soulmate in online chat rooms; Uncle Rico, who is stuck in his "glory" days of high school football; and Grandma, who enjoys going out to the dunes on her quad-runner. Napoleon spends his days drawing magical beasts, working on his computer hacking skills to impress the chicks, and begrudgingly feeding his grandma's pet llama. When his friend Pedro decides to run for class president, it is Napoleon to the rescue to help him triumph over adversity.
It opens Friday all over and it's screening at 7:30 tomorrow night at Mazza Gallerie. I would suggest you get there if you can. Read Jason Calacanis' review straight from Sundance.
- Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story"You're going down like a sweet muffin!" Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Hank Azaria, Lance Armstrong, Chuck Norris, William Shatner, and David Hasselhoff... need I keep going? I didn't think so. Anyway, it looks like a great movie in the spirit of Ben Stiller's character in Heavyweights.. If you've forgotten this character, take a look at Tony Perkis memorable quotes. And don't forget to see the movie when it opens this Friday.
- Fahrenheit 9/11Say what you will about Michael Moore's Oscar speech last year. It was a little whacked out, but you have to give him credit for Bowling for Columbine... Fahrenheit 9/11 has picked up the Palm d'Or at Cannes (see CNN), which is the first documentary in almost 50 years to win the award (Jacques Cousteau's The Silent World won in 1956). View the trailer, see the film opening on June 25.
- HeroThis movie stars Jet Li and Zhang Ziyi (Xiou Long from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and is directed by Yimou Zhang. According to IMDB, the story goes something like this:
In ancient China, before the reign of the first emperor, warring factions throughout the Six Kingdoms plot to assassinate the most powerful ruler, Qin. When a minor official defeats Qin's three principal enemies, he is summoned to the palace to tell Qin the story of his surprising victory.
But that just doesn't do the movie justice. Check out the U.S. trailer or any of the international versions. You can't tell me it doesn't look awesome. Go see it when it opens August 20th.
So, that's my lineup.
Spiderman 2 (July 2),
King Arthur (July 7), and probably
The Terminal (June 18) will all end up under my belt as well. But you were already going to see those. That's it from me for now.
Words cannot express my frustration...
But they will attempt it none-the-less. I've had one of the most frustrating weeks in a long time... and it's mostly because of
Reagan! But it's also because there is just so much going on at work that nobody decides to tell me about until they need something. GRRRR! That makes me mad. I have things to do and schedules to stick to and projects that I need to finish. But somehow, my work is always secondary to everyone else's (with a few exceptions for the good people I work with). But it only takes a few inconsiderate acts to get me in a pissed off mood. And, well, here I am... So for all of you who have been wondering why I haven't posted, I'm about to give you a demonstration. But I guess the question is really, has anybody even noticed? (Anybody? Bueller? Anybody? Who do economics? Voodoo economics). I'm assuming not, but for my own sanity, I've been busy working on a million and one projects. This past weekend was the first weekend in 7 weeks I haven't been in to the office, but I was here until 9:30 on Friday. But, I'm leaving the pain behind and I'm moving forward...
