How to spy on real people over the Web
Everybody has been talking about unsecured webcams today. Take
Boing Boing MetaFilter for example. But it's really quite interesting. Basically, with the growing presence of broadband internet around the world, some people end up putting things on the Internet that they don't intend. Sometimes it's a picture, other times it's a song, well, this time it's security camera interfaces. Yup, that's right, you can look through security cameras all over the world because their owners never bothered to secure them. All you have to do is find them... and even that isn't very hard, there are several simple google hacks that will show you where this cameras are.
This search returns almost 800 cameras.
This one will find almost 2,000. And if that's not enough,
this search will give you another 1,000. Some of them are even so advanced that you can pan and tilt the cameras to follow the action. And if you get to a page with a low refresh rate, don't worry, just go up to the URL and change where it says Mode=Refresh to Mode=Motion and you'll be all set. It makes you wonder how many people are looking at you. Scary.
