Secret Codes in Your Local Pharmacy
Huh? What? Rob from Cockeyed.com has stumbled across an interesting conspiracy, so put on your tinfoil hat and get ready to hear about Hyper-RX Markup Language or the Drugstore Pricing Codes. Basically, what Rob discovered is that Longs Drug Stores in Sacremento display the wholesale cost of their goods on the shelves next to the retail prices. However, they do it with an alphabetic code instead of a numeric code. For example, ANT stands for 308, which means that a bag of M&M's has a wholesale price of $3.08. Interesting, huh? So how do you know what the letters stand for? Easy, CHARLESTON has 10 letters where C=0, H=1, and so on with N=0. But, he also discovered that other pharmacy's have codes. Walgreens for instances uses the letters BNRHCLEASU, which I propose can be re-arranged to be BRUSH CLEAN with B=0, R=1, and N=0. I sent him my theory to see if he could test it against the actual prices of some items at Walgreens. My mission is going to be to check out my local CVS to see if they have a code, and if so, what is their acronym. For more details vist Cockeyed.com and see his discription, it has tables, photos, and all that good stuff. But if you have a Walgreens around, check out my theory, and if you don't try to see if you can scare up some more codes. And, if you work at Walgreens, give me the inside scoop. Under my theory, BRUSH CLEAN provides these results:

Walgreen's Toothpaste $1.99 BNN $0.99
Pepsid AC $3.79 RHN $1.49
Cranberry Capsules $12.99 CHC $5.45

Phisoderm Cleanser $5.29 RAE $1.87
